Blockbusters of 2016

Hi! Today I would like to share with you some of the blockbusters that I am looking forward to the most this year. Yes, I know that they are all pretty much the same genre, but what can I say, I am a sucker for a good superhero movie.

Deadpool
Now, where do I begin with this movie… I have been waiting impatiently and counting the days for what seems like ages! I am obsessed with this character and I have been dying to see a proper Deadpool movie for the longest time. I am also a huge Ryan Reynolds fan and I feel like he was born to play Wade Wilson. I know we have technically already seen him in this role back in 2009 in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but seeing as they completely butchered Deadpool’s story line, I usually try to forget that ever happened. This movie however, looks extremely promising and the promo team has been doing a ridiculously amazing job of making me even more excited to see it. Side note: yes, I will be that annoying person in the theatre laughing out loud at every joke and gasping audibly at everything and no, I am not sorry.

The Jungle Book
Anyone who knows me well enough, knows that the original Jungle Book from 1967 is by far my favorite Disney movie of all time. Needless to say, when I saw the first trailer for this movie I just about lost my mind. It looks beyond stunning and I think director Jon Favreau is going to do an amazing job. His decision to ‘genderbend’ Kaa the snake because there weren’t enough female characters in the movie makes me very happy because as a kid I genuinely thought Kaa was a girl… I also think that Scarlett Johansson is the perfect actress to voice her! But then again the entire cast is amazing and they are going to add so much to all these characters I grew up to love so much.

Captain America: Civil War
Fun fact about me: there are quite a few people who feel like the Marvel Cinematic Universe is getting way too big and there are far too many sequels, prequels, spin-offs, you name it. I am most definitely not one of those people. Any time I get to see any or all of my favorite Marvel superheroes interact with each other I feel like a kid in a candy store. The fact that in this movie however, they are going to be fighting one another is giving me all the anxiety. Still, I am more than ready for another rollercoaster of emotions and yes, I will be wearing my Captain America shirt to the theatre when I go and see it.

X-Men: Apocalypse
Would you look at that, another Marvel movie! I know that the X-Men movies are not exactly cinematic masterpieces, but they are always a good time and the decision to go and watch them as soon as they are released is pretty much a no-brainer for me. I am not too sure about the plot of this one yet, because for some reason it reminds me of the storyline in the previous movie quite a bit, but I am still very curious to see it. The fact that the bad guy is played by Oscar Isaac is already reason enough for me to go and check it out. That guy has been on a roll lately!

Suicide Squad
Now THIS is a movie that I am beyond excited about! Give me a collection of psychopathic bad guys with no morals and I am all in! The trailer that has recently been released for this film, the Bohemian Rhapsody one, is probably one of my favorite trailers I have ever seen. It made me want to get up and smash a wall with my tiny fists and it got me way too hyper. This movie is going to be bat-shit crazy and I am so ready for it!

Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them
Now this might seem a bit overly dramatic but when I saw the first images of this movie I cried. True Story. The Harry Potter movies and books were a huge part of my childhood and every time a new book or movie would come out, it was the highlight of my year. The fact that I now have a new movie in the same ‘universe’ to look forward to brings back all those memories. And can I just say, how great is it that the lead actor is none other than Eddie Redmayne who just so happens to be one of my favorite actors ever?! Honestly, november cannot come soon enough.

Doctor Strange
What better way to end than with another Marvel movie? I don’t know all that much about this particular movie yet, except that the main cast consists of Benedict Cumberbatch, Rachel McAdams and Tilda Swinton. I do have a feeling that this movie is going to be quite different from the other ones in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Either way, the suspense to know more about it is killing me and I cannot wait until the first trailer is released!

Of course there are a lot more movies that I am excited about for 2016 but these are ‘the big ones’. Do let me know in the comments which movies you are looking forward to the most and thanks for reading!

    1. To be honest, I was not a big fan of Man Of Steel and I have serious doubts about Ben Affleck as Batman. However, I am looking forward to seeing Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor but that is about the only thing I am excited about for this movie. Either way, I am definitely going to give it a chance once it comes out but I am not exactly counting the days until its release.
